Our Mission

To make it easier for youth to get involved and remain involved in environmental and climate work and to foster meaningful collaboration with youth.

Our Vision

A world that enables young environmental and climate leaders to elevate their voice and maximize their impact.

Our Commitment to Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Belonging

At the core of our work is our commitment to working with communities underrepresented in the environmental space and those most impacted by climate change. We know that our work is only made stronger and more impactful when diverse groups are empowered to participate meaningfully. At YCC, we welcome people from all backgrounds and do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, national origin, citizenship status, creed, class, ancestry, or other grounds. We prioritize building a community of people with diverse perspectives and life experiences so that we can learn from each other and grow to be approachable for young leaders from all walks of life. We emphasize building a community which values human dignity and evokes a sense of belonging for all. In addition, we recognize that we are forever students listening and learning more each day about justice, equity, diversity, and belonging.

We want to get to know you. Introduce yourself to the YCC community in our forum 🙂

Youth Allies Initiative

Youth lack opportunities to meaningfully participate in decision making processes which impact them and future generations. We aim to bring youth voices to these processes.

To begin, YCC is currently conducting a landscape analysis of some individuals and entities in the United States that are working to bring youth voices to the table. We will capture lessons learned and success stories in an upcoming report, The State of Youth Allies in the United States. In addition, we are planning roundtables and a summit for leaders of this work to encourage information exchange and collaboration.

Key Partner & Sponsor

The YCC Story begins with believing. The Kennebunkport Climate Initiative (KCI), took a chance on our Founder, Pooja Tilvawala, when they chose her as their first Climate Career Winner in October 2020. Thanks to their sponsorship and support, YCC was born. KCI is based in a small coastal Maine town on the forefront of climate change (the Gulf of Maine is warming faster than 99% of the world’s oceans). They are a non-partisan, solutions-based organization that believes youth are key to solving the climate challenge. Their goal is to develop a cohesive youth voice that influences decision-makers to embrace climate solutions and their aim is to educate, empower, and activate 10 million youth to reach this goal by 2025. Be sure to check out their work!
